Hi there! :) Finally my review of Cafe Portofino! My husband and I love this place. We visited on Valentine's Day for a romantic dinner and to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Our reservation was for 6:30pm. Perfect timing! Seated very quickly by a most polite hostess. My husband and I decided to skip an appetizer and go for the goodies. He ordered the crab stuffed flounder and I ordered the bacon wrapped stuffed chicken. Being creatures of habit we both ordered the same soup, French Onion. I've always liked this soup, but it's been a long while since I've had it. Before our soup arrived we were served our bread and olive oil. I'm a big bread fan, but I prefer butter to olive oil. Still the bread was warm and tasty. The soup soon arrived. I've always thought French onion soup has a sour after taste to it, and this one did. I would have loved more cheese cooked in the soup. It was enjoyed thoroughly anyway. Next our, our entrées. Beautiful presentation! My chicken looked as good as it tasted! Very juicy, moist, and tender. There was a lot of bacon and I welcomed it. The chicken breast was stuffed with spinach and sour cream. Accompanied by mashed potatoes and bacon corn risotto. Risotto of any kind is new to me and needless to say, I'm in love! Such a good flavor and texture. Please try it if you haven't. The crab stuffed flounder was amazing! I ate several bites of my husbands entrée. Even though I loved my chicken, I think I loved his flounder more. The crab was sweet, the flounder was tender and wonderful. We ended the night with a shared chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream and strawberries. It was Valentine's Day after all. A simple but delicious desert. We both loved our meal! Cafe Portofino, to us, is very fancy and well worth it. The total price was around $65 before the tip. A total bargain compared to previous visits.( I did have my usual diet coke, but also enjoyed a vodka cranberry. My hubby had his usual beer.) The atmosphere was lovely. A very talented pianist played. Our waiter was very classy and kind. I felt pampered, and I think that's what most of us look for when going to a very upscale restaurant, besides great food. The food can be out of this world but without the feeling that you are someone important, it really doesn't matter. We all want to be somebody even when after you walk out the door you go back to being just simply you. My overall grade for Cafe Portofino is an A! Thank you to the wonderful owners and staff! Cheers and on to the next! :)

Hi! I'm Connie! I'm brand new to the world of blogging. What I would like to do here is post my reviews of local eateries in and around my area. Where is my area? I live in the very western part of North Carolina. So I'm hoping to be posting on restaurants in my area plus Tennessee and Georgia. There must be millions of food critics in the world, so what makes me different? At this moment in time I have no idea but I hope this no name foodie will entertain and maybe, just maybe inspire some of you to take a chance on something new. :)
